Mertens Folly, an indie 3 generation rock band, featuring Thomas Flannery (vocals, guitar, bass), nikko (vocals, guitar, bass, drums) and John flannery (drums, bass). They write songs with an eclectic style that span multiple genres and are produced with lush sounds and gritty tones. With a collaborative writing style that never compromises the intimacy of the lyrics or the story they tell... The 12 track debut album encompasses sharp arrangements, sticky hooks and a wide range of energy levels that every listener can connect with.
From the band…we started writing and just didn’t stop. we married words and music on late nights and long weekends, on the daily commute and at family dinners. it was just fun and interesting and new. we learned as we went along.
we weren’t looking for money or fame or fortune… we did it for the sheer love of the music. then the question was asked, “now what?” so we decided it would be fun to record the work and along with a lot of help from some really solid musicians, very patient producers, family and friends the Mertens Folly project became one of the most rewarding experiences any of us could have hoped for.
We expected nothing to come of it… yet it was totally worth doing.
